Emma Riviera, born in 1995, lives and works between Marseille, Arles and Paris.
After a Cinema and Audiovisual bachelor degree at Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonnes, she joined the National School of Photography in Arles in 2017, graduating in June 2021.

During this master’s degree, she developed a photography practice that deals with the notion of encounter, may it be with a subject or a spectator. For her, the processes of creating and exhibiting are as important as photographing itself. This is what led her to leave the “pure” image behind, in order to bring it to life,  particularly through performance, orality, transmission etc.

She has participated in several group shows including Les Caillé.xes in Paris, Not So Crazy Girls at the Espace Futur gallery in Paris and Fos-sur-terre II at the Artothèque of Miramas. Her photos have been published in magazines such as Parad and Bruto Fanzine, as well as in the newspaper Liberation.

Recently, she was exhibited at the Rencontres d´Arles over the summer 2021 edition with Une attention particulière and participated in the creative residency of the International Young Photography Festival at the Villa Pérochon, Niort, in September 2021.
