Alexandre DESSON is a graduate of the ENSP in Arles and the Institut d’Études Politiques in Lille. He engages in plastic and theoretical research on the notions of modernity, technique and the Dionysian.
Alexandre Desson’s work emerges from a concern about technique and the devices for recording the visible. As every camera is a capture device, the question of a predatory or authoritarian dimension of photography arises. Alexandre Desson thus proposes to cast doubt on an eye that is too sure of its power by means of unstable, non-eventual images that deliver minimal information, or by sending the surveillance devices back to their image. His photographs invest the space that extends between vision and aim.
