Marie HERVÉ
Born in 1996 in Marseille, Marie Hervé lives and works between Arles, France and Turin, Italy.
Following her studies in hypokhâgne-khâgne, she entered the ENSP in Arles, where she obtained her DNSEP in 2020. There she developed a work of self-publication and spatialization of photographs, texts and moving images where contemporary uses of writing and images as ghosts, personal ruins or degraded common memory are questioned; from the family archive and the museum space to the mobile phone image. At the same time, she develops personal and collective projects in the Mediterranean territory, notably in Palermo, in duo with Elsa Martinez. She also collaborates with Anna Cherednikova for NOORD Editions, and in the spring of 2020 she launches a mail-order editorial project, about:blank. Between 2018 and 2019, she will dig up a collection of more than 200 images from family archives and begin a research project based on myth, travelling between Malta, Greece, Corsica and Italy, with the Mediterranean Sea as her only reference point. She took part in the Transformer Project for Blitz Art Space in Malta, then travelled between Athens, Aegina and Kavala, Greece, where she participated in Roundtable #3 for the Lucy Art Residency. She has exhibited in France for Cosmos Arles Books 2019 and Les Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles, for 02022020.SPACE or A) GLIMPSE) OF) and Phoenix Athens Residency. More recently, she took part in the exhibition Variations of Reality – MAC Créteil, in January 2021.
